Edmilson Nelli is a Brazilian singer-songwriter from Salvador, Bahia. He started singing in local choirs as a child and taught himself to play instruments, drawing from samba, axé, and pagode. In 1998, he released the single "Diferenças," which became a major hit in Brazil. The song's message of unity resonated widely, topping charts and earning awards.
Nelli's career faced challenges in the early 2000s when he was accused of plagiarism and went through a legal battle. He eventually cleared his name. More recently, he has been known for speaking out on social and political issues in Brazil. Another of his songs, "Um Novo Dia," also appears among his popular work.
