Edmyl formed in São Paulo in 2003, with Edmundo Caramez as the singer-songwriter. Their debut album came out in 2006, and its single 'Dor Passageira' became a hit. The band's music was sometimes called 'samba melancólico' by critics.
They released a second album in 2010 called 'A Porta do Sol,' which brought in some rock and folk elements. Other songs like 'Carta a Edmyl' and 'À Parte' show their style of ethereal vocals and introspective lyrics. The band has put out four albums, with the most recent one in 2020.
