Edoardo de Crescenzo

Edoardo de Crescenzo came up in Naples, where he started making music in the 1970s. His debut album 'Ancora' arrived in 1977, and the title track became his best-known song. He's kept a fairly steady band over time, with Enzo Gragnaniello on piano and keyboards, Roberto De Simone on bass, and Tony Esposito on drums.

His sound pulls from traditional Neapolitan music but works in pop arrangements. Songs like 'Cante Jondo' and 'Al Piano Bar' have that familiar blend of local melody and accessible structure. He's recorded with other Italian artists, including Pino Daniele and Renato Zero.

De Crescenzo has put out more than thirty albums since the late seventies. Some later titles include 'Un'altra vita' from 2006 and 'A modo mio' in 2010. He's received awards like the Premio Tenco and Targa Tenco for his songwriting.
