Eduardo Forte

Eduardo Forte formed the alternative rock band Fumaça in Rio de Janeiro during the 1980s. Their sound started with raw energy and gradually incorporated soul, jazz, and Brazilian rhythms. The band's self-titled debut album came out in 1992, followed by records like "Nada a Ver" in 1995, "Quarto Escuro" in 1998, and "Fora de Forma" in 2002.

Forte's song "Fumaça" became a haunting piece that defined much of their work. Other tracks like "Ar Rarefeito," "Balada," "Fantasmas," and "Longe de Você" show the band's range. Their lyrics sometimes carried political undertones, and one song, "Mandala," drew criticism from conservative groups who saw it as promoting drug use.

The original lineup included Forte on vocals and guitar, Marcelo Sussekind on bass, Antonio Celso Ribeiro on drums, and Rodrigo Tavares on keyboards. Members changed over time, but Forte stayed as the central figure. Their music found a niche audience who appreciated its experimental nature, even as some listeners found it too unconventional.
