I wasn't really drunk

You look so pretty when you have been drinking

And don't care when your friends say you're a mess

You laugh at all my jokes when no one else does

So I feel it's only right I must confess

You see I wasn't really drunk I was just pretending

Because I wanted so much to feel the way you do

And now this party it seems never ending

I would gladly sip my champaign from your shoes

When I found you sitting there under the table

I hoped that you would make some room for me

But I have never been much of a drinker

And at this bar they don't serve herbal tea

So I woke with the dawn to fix you breakfast

I served it to you right there in your bed

But your blood shot eyes adressed me like a stranger

As if I caused that pain inside your head
