Efetivus formed in Rio de Janeiro around 1986. Their music pulled from rock, funk, and samba, and they had a hit with the song "A Chuva (Chama Eterna)." The band's lineup included Zé Renato on vocals and guitar, Bruno Cardoso on bass, and Marcelo Costa on drums.
They released their self-titled debut album in 1988, which featured "A Chuva." Later records like 1991's "Livre para Voar" and 1996's "Pura Paixão" showed some shifts in their sound. Other songs in their catalog include "Dificeis Promessas" and "Há Alguem."
Efetivus stopped working together in 2002. Their music, particularly that early hit, still gets played on Brazilian radio.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
