Egma formed in Sweden in 1998, with guitarist Magnus Carlstedt and keyboardist Pelle Hermansson at the core. They were joined by vocalist Annika Eklund, bassist Rickard Ahlin, and drummer Niclas Lindroth. Their debut album 'Nightwish' came out in 2001.
Their second album, 'Never Gonna Lose Your Love,' gave them wider recognition. The title track became a fan favorite, built around Eklund's vocals and the band's symphonic metal arrangements. Eklund left in 2003 and was replaced by Helena Iren Michaelsen, which shifted their sound somewhat.
They kept recording through lineup changes, with Carlstedt and Hermansson staying constant. Later albums like 'A Sense of Time' from 6 and 'The Ninth Wave' from 2011 incorporated progressive and folk elements. Other songs in their catalog include 'Make My Day' and 'Tell it to my heart.'
