Ego Depths formed in Helsinki in 2006 around vocalist Ville Sorvali, guitarist Mika Lammassaari, and bassist Mikko Laiho. They've worked in a gothic and doom metal style, with a sound that leans toward the atmospheric and emotionally heavy. Their first album came out in 2010, simply called 'Ego Depths'.
They put out 'Shape Shift' in 2013, an album that some found particularly dark and introspective. Later records include 'Oblivion' from 2016 and 'Ghosts of Loss' from 2019. In 2022, they released a cover of My Dying Bride's 'Sear Me'.
