Egon Henrique came up in Salvador, Bahia, where he started writing songs. His debut album 'O Mundo É Mundo' came out in 1996, and it included 'Diabinho,' a song that got some attention for its lyrics about a love affair with a devilish figure.
That track, along with others like 'Garota' and 'Não Me Engane (Sugar Sugar),' gave him a reputation for ballads that leaned into darker or more supernatural themes. The writing tended to be more introspective than what was typical in Brazilian popular music at the time.
The music stayed melodic even when the subject matter got heavy.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
