Egregorean

Egregorean formed in Leipzig, Germany in 2008. They started playing small clubs and festivals while working on their first album, which came out in 2012. Their 2018 album 'Last Reign' gave them their most recognized song, the title track that became something of an anthem for their listeners.

Their music tends toward progressive metal with complex arrangements, though what really sticks with people are the melodies and the lyrical themes. Songs like 'The Dead Garden' and 'The Innocent's Eyes' show their preference for atmospheric, somewhat haunting material. They've released five albums total, with 'Echoes of Eternity' arriving in 2023.

Some of their lyrics, particularly in 'Last Reign,' have sparked discussion for touching on religious and mythological ideas. That hasn't stopped them from building a dedicated audience who appreciates that they don't stick to straightforward formulas. They're still putting out records, but they've never really chased mainstream attention.
