Ekstrak formed in Sweden in 1989, with Janne Schaffer on vocals and guitar, Jens Johansson on bass, and Peter Larsson on drums. They came out of the late-80s underground, playing a straightforward rock style that leaned on heavy riffs and loud drums. Their first album, 'Hard Drivers', came out in 1992 and gave them a radio hit with the title track.
After that album, the lineup shifted a bit. Jens Johansson left in 1994 and was replaced by Anders Johansson on bass. They kept putting out records through the 90s, like 'Ride the Storm' and 'The Devil's in the Details', staying with that hard-driving rock sound. The band's later albums included 'Exposed' and 'Sonic Boom'.
