El Depósito Norte formed in Los Mochis, Sinaloa in 1999. The band included José Manuel Leyva on vocals, Ramón López on accordion, Ricardo Moreno on bass, and Julio Ochoa on drums. They worked in the corrido tradition, with songs like "Adios" and "Sangre" among their better-known tracks.
Their debut album "Corridos del Pueblo" came out in 2000, followed by "Adios" in 2003 and "Raíces" in 2007. Later releases included "Amor y Depresión" in 2012 and "El Legado Continúa" in 2020. In 2006 they had a legal dispute with their former record label.
Some of their material dealt with themes of love and loss, though corridos as a genre sometimes faced criticism for how they handled certain subjects. The band kept recording and performing for about two decades after they started.
