ElPatron970 formed in Culiacán, Sinaloa in the early 2000s, taking their name from the city's 970 zip code. The group was built around vocalist and songwriter José Ángel Espinoza, known as Ferrusca, who wrote much of their material. They worked with musicians like Erick Jaramillo, Tony Montana, and Daniel Luna.
Their sound mixed traditional Mexican corridos and cumbias with more contemporary urban production. The single "Sin Dormir" became a breakthrough hit for them, leading to albums like El Primer Imperio and Corridos Tumbados. Other tracks like "Amsterdam" and "Mercedes" kept their regional Mexican foundation but carried a modern edge.
They collaborated with artists including Joss Favela, Natanael Cano, and Los Dos Carnales.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
