El Raphi came out of Mexico City in 2005 with a sound that mixed rap with more traditional Mexican music. Their debut single "Como Antes" did well on the charts, and the band was built around rapper Rafael Sandoval, composer Julio Ramirez, and DJ Rasta.
They put out a few albums over the next several years, including the self-titled El Raphi in 2009. Songs like "Lejos" and "Llevarte a Marte" kept their romantic, melodic rap style going. The music wasn't for everyone at first, but it found its audience.
By 2013 they had released De Regreso, which was described as a return to their roots. The details get thin after that, but the early 2000s run left a handful of songs people still know.
