Background notes

Archive material and source history

El Tacho was an Argentine rock band that formed in Buenos Aires in the late 1980s. They were led by vocalist and songwriter Sergio "Maravilla" Martínez, with Ariel Minimal on guitar, Ricardo "Palo" Pandolfo on bass, and Diego "El Chaparro" Rodríguez on drums. Their 1990 song "Ni Un Hueso" became a breakout hit, catching attention with its raw energy and direct lyrics.

Their music sometimes drew criticism for its explicit content, which touched on themes like poverty and social inequality. This made it harder for them to book certain venues, but they kept playing live shows that were known for being intense and uncompromising. Other songs like "Quemado" and "Todo" carried that same straightforward approach.

They released a handful of albums including Ni Un Hueso in 1990, La Pega in 1992, Lados B in 1994, and El Último Round in 1996. Their career was relatively brief, but "Ni Un Hueso" stuck around as something of an anthem for a certain generation of Argentine listeners.
