Los Tejoncitos de Tijuana formed in the early 1990s in Tijuana, playing corridos and other Mexican regional styles. Their lineup included José Alberto Salazar on lead vocals and accordion, Ricardo David García on bass, Juan Salazar on rhythm guitar, José Alfredo Salazar on lead guitar, and Francisco Javier Pérez on tuba and backup vocals.
They gained a following in the Tijuana region with energetic live shows and corridos that told stories about local figures and events. One of their best-known songs is "El Corrido de Don Vrgs," which appeared on their 1997 album of the same name.
Their music sometimes touched on topics like drug trafficking and violence, which brought both attention and criticism. They released several albums including Corridos de Alto Impacto in 1995 and Alma de Ranchero in 2004.
