El Tiki

El Tiki formed in Guadalajara, Mexico in the mid-1990s with Sergio Meza on vocals, Ernesto García on drums, and Francisco and Alejandro Padilla on bass and guitar. They built a following through live shows before releasing their debut album "Destilería de Sueños" in 2003. That album included "Cheto Disfrazado," a satirical track about pretentious people that caught on with listeners and gave the band wider attention.

They followed with several more albums that showed different sides of their sound. "La Revancha del Dragón" in 2005 had a more reflective quality, while "Estamos Bien" from 2008 mixed in reggae and hip-hop elements. By 2012's "Universo Paralelo," they were working with electronic textures. Songs like "Como Quema" and "Hasta Abajo" became part of their set alongside their earlier material.

The original four members stayed together through these recordings, though they sometimes brought in other musicians for collaborations. Their music often touched on social themes and identity, but they kept returning to the energetic blend of ska, punk, and rock that first defined them.
