El Tio

El Tío formed in Mexico City in the late 1980s with vocalist and guitarist René Esparza, bassist and vocalist Sergio Arau, and drummer Mario Sandoval. Their early years involved financial struggles and limited chances to play live. They kept at it, and their song 'Andaba Pensando' became a signature track that helped them reach listeners beyond Mexico.

Their music often mixed traditional Mexican sounds with rock rhythms. Songs like 'Aplastando Puercos' and 'Calienta Y Pega' showed this blend. Their lyrics sometimes drew criticism, particularly for political content, but they maintained a focus on expression.

They released albums steadily through the 1990s and 2000s, including 'El Coyote' in 1992 and 'El Tío de las Letras' in 1996. Their work resonated with fans who appreciated its directness and energy.
