El Verdadero

El Verdadero came together in Mexico City around the early 2000s. They were a group of musicians interested in mixing traditional Mexican folk with more contemporary sounds. Their name translates to 'The True,' which seemed to fit their approach to songwriting.

In 2005, their song 'Una Carta' got some attention on the radio. It was a straightforward ballad that connected with people. They also recorded tracks like 'Arriba Arriba' and 'Cumbia' around that time.

Their music tended toward the reflective, and they kept their public presence fairly low-key. Over time, their sound shifted a bit, becoming a little more experimental while still working within those folk foundations.
