They took their name from the Spanish slang term for mixed-race, which reflected their approach to blending rock, reggae, and Mexican influences. Their debut album came out in 2005.
That album included 'Dios Me Libre,' a protest song about poverty and social injustice that became their most recognizable track. Other songs like 'Asi Fue' and 'Lo Nuestro No Murio' showed their range with more personal storytelling alongside the political material.
