Elen formed in Leipzig in 2003, with Anna Murphy on vocals, Alexander Kaschte on guitar, and Susanne Blechinger on cello. Their song 'Liegen Ist Frieden' came out in 2004 and found an audience with its ethereal melody and themes of loss and deception.
Murphy's intense performances and the band's dark, introspective lyrics drew some criticism, but they kept touring. Their music includes tracks like 'Meter Mauern' and 'Luftschlösser'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
