Archive material and source history
Eli Noir is a Montreal-based musical collective led by vocalist and songwriter Jasmine Yee, who has classical piano training. Guitarist and producer Nick Zubeck has been part of the project since its early days in the 2010s. Their sound pulls from soul, electro-pop, and experimental electronica, creating what some listeners have described as ethereal soundscapes.
Their debut EP was called "Midnight," and they followed it with releases like "The Days Are Cold" and "The Only Way Out Is Through." Later albums such as "Shadow of My Former Self" and "In My Bones" showed the group exploring more experimental territory and personal themes. One of their better-known tracks is "Wonder Why."
The band has worked with other artists including rapper Lido Pimienta and producer Skrillex. They've received a Polaris Music Prize nomination and a JUNO Award for Alternative Album of the Year. The lineup has also included drummer Juan Carlos Del Real and bassist Mark Sabatine.
