Eliane Pereira and Abdias Rodrigues met singing in a church choir in São Paulo. They formed a gospel duo that became known for songs like "As Águias de Deus" and "Bendita Segurança." Their 1995 album As Águias de Deus gave them their most recognizable song.
Their music worked with straightforward gospel harmonies and melodies that felt familiar in Brazilian churches. The pair recorded several albums through the late 1990s and early 2000s, including O Poder da Fé in 1997 and Um Novo Amanhecer in 1999.
Eliane sang lead with a clear, direct voice while Abdias handled guitar and vocal harmonies. They kept recording through 2003's A Vitória é Certa before their catalog settled into the rotation of Brazilian gospel radio and church services.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
