Elida Y Avante formed in Barranquilla, Colombia in the early 1990s. The band centered around vocalist Elida Martínez and multi-instrumentalist Luis Fernando Morales, who performed under the name Avante. They released their debut album 'Sombra y Luz' in 1995, followed by 'Ecos del Viento' in 1997.
Their 1999 album 'Luna Llena' featured the title track that became their most recognizable song. That ballad, along with others like 'Duele' and 'Fantasia,' helped define their sound. The band's lineup included bassist Gustavo García and drummer Juan Carlos Puello.
Elida Y Avante's music blended traditional Colombian rhythms with electronic elements. They maintained a relatively private public presence throughout their active years, letting songs like 'Luna Llena' and 'Juntos Hasta Morir' represent their work without extensive personal commentary.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
