Elis e Fernando

Elis Regina and Fernando Brant were two distinct Brazilian artists who collaborated on several recordings in the 1970s. Regina was a singer from Porto Alegre, born in 1945, while Brant was a poet and composer from Belo Horizonte, born in 1946. Their work together included songs like 'Medley Viola' and 'Estranho Love,' which appeared on Regina's 1972 album 'Elis.'

'Medley Viola' was originally written by Brant for his own band before Regina recorded it. The song became well-known despite some initial criticism from traditionalists who felt her interpretation strayed from folk styles. Their collaboration continued through albums like 'Elis & Tom' in 1974 and 'Festa' in 1976.

Regina died in 1982 at age 36, and Brant died in 2015 at age 68. Their recordings, including 'Eu Acabo Voltando' and 'Metade de Mim,' remain part of Brazilian music's landscape from that period.
