Elis Jhon was a Brazilian band active in the early 1970s, led by vocalist Elis Regina. Their debut album 'Me De Tudo' came out in 1970, which included songs like 'Me dÊ Tudo' and 'Me Leva do Caminho'. The group's sound mixed rock, samba, and funk, and their lyrics often addressed social and political themes of the time.
In 1972, a concert in Rio de Janeiro was canceled due to a bomb threat. Internal tensions grew, and several members left before Regina began a solo career in 1974.
Other musicians in the band included Ronaldo Bôscoli and Luiz Carlos Miele on guitar, César Camargo Mariano on piano, Hélio Delmiro on drums, and Raul Mascarenhas on bass. They released two more albums, 'Elis Jhon Segundo' in 1971 and 'Elis Jhon Terceiro' in 1972.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
