Elis Tecladista e Banda formed in 2007 around keyboardist Elis Tecladista, with guitarist Thiago Barata and drummer Bruno Miyazawa. They started playing local bars in São Paulo before their 2010 debut album 'Mente Pra Mim' brought them wider attention.
The title track from that album became their most recognizable song. The band's sound mixed pop, rock, and funk elements, with Elis Tecladista's keyboard work at the center of their arrangements.
They released subsequent albums including 'No Meu Lugar' in 2014 and 'Sobrevivendo aos Dias' in 2018. In 2015, Elis Tecladista was diagnosed with thyroid cancer and underwent surgery while continuing to perform.
