Elisa Toffoli started making music in Trieste as a teenager, first with a band called Elisa e i Tiromancino before going solo. Her 1997 debut album 'Pipes & Flowers' introduced her voice and writing, and a few years later 'Luce (Tramonti a nord est)' found listeners outside Italy.
She's put out nine studio albums since then, working in a space between pop and something more grounded. The 2009 record 'Heart' had Giuliano Sangiorgi and Jovanotti on it. Songs like 'Bitter Words,' 'Catch The Light,' and 'Ancora Qui' show the kind of direct, melodic writing she does.
Her band has included Andrea Rigonat on guitar, Paolo Costa on drums, and Roberto Carlotto on keyboards. The 2000 song 'Anche Fragile' became one of those tracks people hold onto, a straightforward statement that connected without much fuss.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
