Elisabeth Andreassen was born in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1958. She started singing professionally at fifteen with the all-female group Chips, whose upbeat melodies found an international audience through the 1970s.
In 1985, she represented Norway at the Eurovision Song Contest alongside Jan Werner Danielsen. Their duet "La det swinge" won the competition that year. She had already begun releasing solo work by then, and her voice carried a particular emotional weight that suited both pop arrangements and more dramatic material.
Her 1988 single "Eternity" became her most recognizable song. With its sweeping orchestration and themes of love and longing, it topped charts in several countries. She also recorded it in Swedish as "I evighet."
