Elleva formed in 2003 in Fortaleza, Brazil, with vocalist Larissa Ferreira, guitarist Rodrigo Pegoretti, and drummer Leandro Moura. They built a local following before their 2009 song 'Falsas Promessas' connected with listeners across the country.
That track's straightforward melody and direct lyrics seemed to capture a particular mood, helping the band tour and release several albums. Their discography includes 'Elleva' in 2009, 'O Segundo Ato' in 2011, 'Sobre Mim' in 2014, and 'V' in 2018.
In 2012, there was a public dispute with a former member over intellectual property rights. A few years later, some critics took issue with the band's lyrics, calling them too explicit.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
