Elos formed in São Paulo in 1978 with Marcelo Froes on bass, Mário Campos on vocals and guitar, José Luís "Zeca" Antunes on keyboards, Luís Carlos Maluly on drums, and Sérgio Magrão on percussion. Their sound drew from jazz, rock, classical, and Brazilian folk music.
In the early 1980s, the band faced censorship from Brazil's military regime for lyrics that touched on social and political issues. They released albums like "Elos" in 1981, "Tô de Olho" in 1982, and "Sentido" in 1987.
Their song "Será Que Ele Sabe" became a major hit, reaching the top of the charts. Other tracks like "Culpa Das Estrelas" and "Não Dá Mais" also found their audience. In 2018, Elos was inducted into the Hall of Fame of Brazilian Popular Music.
