Elos da Raça

Elos da Raça formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2006 with a lineup that included vocalist Vanderson Santos (Vandinho), guitarists Joelson Santos and Robson Nonato, bassist Júnior Chimbinha, drummer Gege do Jêje, and percussionists Alex do Cavaco and Sandro Lazinho. Their music draws from Afro-Brazilian rhythms, samba, and hip-hop.

Their song "Eu Sou" became an anthem for black pride and resistance, though its direct lyrics about social issues sometimes drew criticism from conservative listeners. The band maintained their focus on these themes across their albums, which include titles like "Raça e Consciência" (2006), "Giro" (2008), "Nação Zumbi" (2010), "Resistência" (2012), "O Mundo É Nosso" (2014), "Raízes" (2016), and "Revolução" (2018).

They've performed at festivals and worked with artists like Carlinhos Brown and Gilberto Gil. Their sound remains rooted in those early influences, with percussion and vocals carrying messages about cultural identity and social justice.
