Elphos formed in São Paulo around 2012 with Camila Sousa on vocals, Rodrigo Tavares on guitar, Marcelo Oliver on bass, and Daniel Gonçalves on drums. They played small venues for a few years, working out a sound that mixed indie rock with some electronic elements.
Their 2016 single 'Busca' changed things. With Sousa's voice and Tavares's guitar lines, it caught on and gave the band a much wider audience. Other songs like 'Infinito' and 'Pulsos Firmes' followed, building out their catalog.
After 'Busca' took off, some listeners pointed out similarities between it and another Brazilian track. The band denied copying anything, but the conversation stuck around for a while.
