Elvis Leáttili formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2014, started by a few friends who wanted to make music together. They put out their debut EP 'Cheguei' the following year, which included the track that would become their most recognizable song. That song, also called 'Cheguei,' carries a straightforward, upbeat rhythm that caught on locally.
Their music pulls from a few different places, some soul and funk, some reggae, and a clear grounding in Afro-Brazilian rhythms. They followed the EP with albums like 'Lambreta' in 2018 and 'O Corre' in 2021. The band's lineup has stayed fairly consistent, with Fábio Sena on vocals, Rafael Fernandes on guitar, Gabriel Breno on bass, Lucas Oliveira on drums, and Rafael Carvalho handling keyboards and synthesizers.
Their lyrics sometimes touch on social themes, which has drawn both listeners who connect with that message and some criticism from others. They've kept playing live shows that are known for being energetic and rhythmic, built around that blend of styles they work with.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
