Emas Boy formed in São Paulo in the early 2000s, with Gordo on vocals. Their debut album 'Angústia' came out in 2006, named after the track that became something of an underground anthem in Brazil. The band followed it with 'O Homem Invisível' in 2008.
Their music drew from post-punk and noise rock, with some Brazilian folk elements mixed in. Songs like 'Grana' and 'Ilusão' carried that same raw, introspective quality. The lyrics often dealt with pain and isolation, which connected with certain listeners even as it put off others.
They kept releasing albums through the 2010s, including 'É Tudo Verdade' in 2011 and 'Sociedade do Cansaço' in 2015. Their 2019 record was called 'A Cidade Invisível'. The track 'War' featured Breyner Alfa.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
