Editor's note

Richard Kruspe's industrial metal side project Emigrate

A separate outlet for the Rammstein guitarist's own music, with guest spots from Till Lindemann and Marilyn Manson.

For a good sense of Emigrate's range, try 'ALWAYS ON MY MIND' and 'Hypothetical'. They show both the industrial foundation and the guest-heavy approach.

Emigrate gives Richard Kruspe room to work outside Rammstein's signature sound. Tracks like 'ALWAYS ON MY MIND' with Till Lindemann show the project's industrial roots, while songs such as 'My World' and '1234' drift into more melodic, electronic territory. It's a personal catalog that's kept evolving since 2005.

Kruspe started Emigrate in 2005, releasing the self-titled debut in 2007. The project has put out a few more albums since, including 'Silent So Long' in 2014 and 'The Persistence of Memory' in 2021. The lineup has shifted over time, with Kruspe as the constant.

Emigrate is a German industrial metal project started in 2005 by Richard Kruspe, who plays guitar in Rammstein. Kruspe began it as a separate outlet for his own music, working outside the main band's sound. Their first album came out in 2007, simply called 'Emigrate', and they've put out a few more since then, including 'Silent So Long' in 2014, 'A Million Degrees' in 2018, and 'The Persistence of Memory' in 2021.

Some of their songs feature guest vocalists from other well-known acts. 'ALWAYS ON MY MIND' includes Till Lindemann, also from Rammstein, and 'Hypothetical' has a part from Marilyn Manson. Other tracks like 'My World' and '1234' show the project's range, moving between heavier industrial sounds and more melodic, sometimes electronic, pieces.

The lineup has shifted over time, with Kruspe as the constant. Other musicians have included vocalist Björn Engelmann, bassist Arnaud Giroux, drummer Martin Hesselbach, and keyboardist Mikko Sirén. They don't tour as often as some bands, but the records keep coming, each one a bit different from the last.
