Emphatic formed in 2005 with guitarist Justin Spencer and vocalist Patrick Wilson. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2009, and they followed it with Damage in 2014. That record included the song 'Stronger,' which became one of their better-known tracks. They've also released albums called Black Rain and Hybrid Aurora.
At some point, Spencer and Wilson left the band. The lineup has included Christopher Paul on vocals, John Patrick on guitar, Michael Bodinus on bass, and David Bradshaw on drums. They had a legal dispute with their former label around 2011 that paused their live shows for a while.
Their songs like 'Don't Forget About Me' and 'What Are You Afraid Of?' have a straightforward rock sound with clear choruses. They're one of those bands that kept going through some lineup changes and label issues, putting out records every few years without much fanfare outside their listeners.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
