Emphim formed in 2008 as a Brazilian band with Lucas Silveira, Rodrigo Silveira, and Thiago Duar. Their debut album 'A Presença' came out in 2010, and its lead single 'Uma Vez Mais' became a hit.
In 2013, Lucas Silveira came out as gay, which drew both support and criticism in Brazil. The band continued making music while advocating for LGBTQ+ rights.
They released several more albums including 'Paraíso' in 2012, 'O Futuro É Hoje' in 2014, and 'Origens' in 2017.
