Enkore formed in Lisbon in the late 2000s with Vasco Ribeiro on vocals, Diogo Piçarra and Miguel Araújo on guitars, Fred Ferreira on bass, and Hugo Pereira on drums. Their sound had a raw, introspective quality from the start, leaning into alternative rock with folk touches and lyrics that felt more personal than anthemic.
Their 2010 single 'Confissões de Abril' became a national hit in Portugal, its haunted melody and plainspoken regret connecting with listeners in a way their earlier material hadn't. That song's success led to two studio albums, 'Além das Palavras' in 2012 and 'Hoje' in 2015, which continued exploring similar emotional territory with tracks like 'Dias Quentes' and 'Lágrimas'.
The band played major festivals like Rock in Rio and developed a dedicated live following. They went on hiatus in 2018, citing internal tensions, but returned to playing in 2020. Their career has included some public disputes over copyright and plagiarism claims, which have occasionally overshadowed the music itself.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
