Equestrian Lord formed in California in 2005, with a lineup that included vocalist and guitarist Shadowfax, bassist Nightfall, and drummer Maneiac. They built a following in the underground metal scene with a raw, aggressive sound. Their 2010 track 'Canterlot's Fall' became something of an anthem, built on heavy riffs and Shadowfax's vocals.
Nightfall left the band in 2012, and Twilight joined on bass. Their lyrics and imagery sometimes drew criticism, but they kept working. They released albums like 'Shadow of the Mane' in 2007 and 'Blood and Steel' in 2015.
