Erick Kinho is a Brazilian singer from Salvador, Bahia who moved to Rio de Janeiro as a teenager. He started performing in samba circles there before his 1997 song "Aquele Beijo" became a national hit. That track, along with others like "Tira Roupa Que Eu Quero Você" and "Adeus Mãe," helped establish him as a popular voice in samba-pagode, a style that mixes traditional samba with pop and romantic elements.
In the early 2000s, Kinho faced plagiarism accusations regarding the melody of "Aquele Beijo," which he denied. He has released several albums including Samba Pra Valer (1997), Um Beijo Pra Você (2000), and a live recording from 2006. His band has included guitarist Gabriel Lopes, bassist Pedro Sete, and drummer Andrezinho.
Kinho's songs like "Ainda Bem," "Amor Verdadeiro," and "Faco Tudo Pra Ficar Contigo" continue to be played widely in Brazil. He still performs regularly, drawing crowds who know the words to his catalog of romantic samba-pagode tunes.
