Erick Morillo was a DJ and producer who came up in the New York club scene in the early 1990s. He was born in Cartagena, Colombia, in 1971. His track 'Live Your Life' from 1998, featuring Shawnee Taylor, became a global dance anthem and defined his sound for many listeners.
He ran the Subliminal Records label, which he started in 1999. Other notable tracks include 'Dance I Said' and 'If This Ain't Love'. In 2014, he was arrested and charged with sexual battery, an event that affected his bookings and standing in the industry.
Morillo was found dead in Miami Beach in 2020. He was 49.
