Erito Purcino formed in Salvador, Bahia in 1980 with Luiz Gonzaga on vocals and guitar, Eládio Gil on bass, and Fred Jorge on drums. They put out their first album, 'Milagros,' in 1986. The band's 1994 album 'Canudos' includes the song of the same name, a solemn ballad that addresses a historical conflict.
Their music often touches on social themes, as heard in another track, 'Fartura de Poucos Miséria de Muitos.' The band's sound draws from folk, rock, and traditional Brazilian rhythms.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
