Erivelto Couto was a Brazilian singer-songwriter who began working with guitarist Noé Silva in the late 1980s. Their debut album 'Emoções' came out in 1988, and its lead single 'Chover' became an early hit. Another song, 'Promessa,' also appears among his better-known recordings.
His music drew from bossa nova, samba, and MPB, with lyrics that often dealt with love and loss. In 1995, he faced plagiarism allegations that he denied. He released several albums through the mid-1990s, including 'Pérola Negra' in 1990 and 'O Céu e o Mar' in 1996.
