Erva Matt formed in Brasília in 2009 with guitarists Pedro Henrique and Henrique Gontijo, bassist Leandro Sena, and drummer Beto Fonseca. Their self-titled debut album came out in 2011, and its lead single 'E Vem' became a national hit in Brazil.
They released two more studio albums, 'Pra Gente Acordar' in 2013 and 'Sol de Outono' in 2018. Other songs like 'Mudança de Estação' and 'Romeu e Julieta' also found their audience. In 2015, the band faced some public scrutiny over lyrics in a song called 'Melô do Lanche,' which some critics said promoted drug use.
Erva Matt's lineup saw changes over time, but those four founding members remained at the core. Their music drew from rock, reggae, and Brazilian folk influences, though they never settled into one predictable style across their three albums.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
