Erveleste formed in Salvador, Bahia around 2005. The group included Carlinhos Brown on percussion, Jota Moraes on vocals, and Mike Scott on various instruments. They put out two albums, 'Erveleste' in 2007 and 'A Divina Dama' in 2009.
Their song 'Estava Escrito Nas Estrelas' became their most recognizable track. Other songs like 'É Amor o Que Eu Sinto Por Você' and 'Será Que Você Pensa Em Mim' followed a similar vein of straightforward romantic themes.
They worked with producer Teo Lima early on, though that association was complicated. Later they collaborated with artists like Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso. Their music mixed Brazilian rhythms with pop and rock elements, but stayed grounded in accessible melodies.
