That album included the song "The River," which became his best-known work. He released several other albums in the 1990s and early 2000s, including "Life After Death" in 1994 and "City of Rain" in 1997.
Some critics found his lyrics introspective. He kept recording music, putting out another album called "The River" in 2005.
