Estação do Rock formed in São Paulo in 1975 with Murillo Rosa on vocals, Miguel Mares and Luiz Paulo Simas on guitars, Paulo Cesar on bass, and Alexandre Marciano on drums. They were playing rock music at a time when Brazilian society was still largely oriented toward traditional styles.
In 1983, they released their debut album, which included the track "Nova Geração." The song became a national hit, though its lyrics criticizing the military regime also drew attention from authorities.
They put out several more albums in the 1980s, including A Vez do Rock in 1984, A Luta Continua in 1986, and Estação em Movimento in 1988. The lineup changed over time, but they continued to record and tour.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
