Estado Alterado formed in Salvador, Bahia in the early 1990s. Their debut album "Rastafari Militante" came out in 1994. The band's sound mixed reggae with Brazilian elements, and their 1996 album "Baiana Cazajeira" gave them their signature track of the same name.
Original members included vocalist Marcello Melo Jr., guitarist Paulinho Levi, bassist Macaxeira, and drummer Bimba. Melo Jr. left in 1998, and Carlinhos Brown joined as the new vocalist. Their lyrics often touched on social themes, which sometimes drew criticism, like with the 2004 song "Ataque dos Clones."
Other albums include "África Brasil" from 2001 and "A Nova Era do Reggae" from 2005. Their catalog also includes songs like "A bondade o Sorriso E O Doce" and "Ironia do Destino."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
