Estado de Elevação formed in Salvador in the late 1990s, with Marcelo Nova, Ricardo Ness, Lobão, and Rato Borrachudo as founding members. Their self-titled debut came out in 2001, followed by the album "Guerra Particular" in 2003. That record's title track, along with songs like "Novos Horizontes" and "O Canto de Um Suicida," became known for their heavy grooves and introspective lyrics.
In 2006, Nova was arrested for drug possession, which led to a tour cancellation. The band kept working after that, releasing albums like "Psicoacústica" in 2005 and "Acústico" in 2007.
They put out six studio albums in total, including "Duplo Sentido" in 2009. Their sound mixed alternative rock with blues and MPB influences, heard on tracks such as "Ruas Vazias."
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
